    The staff of the Misaabekong Ojibwe Immersion Program of the Duluth Public Schools humbly shares materials and resources with the understanding that none of these materials be published and/or sold by any entity. We do require that any edits or changes to these materials be identified on both the Cover page and on the Acknowledgments page by giving credit to the original creators/authors/illustrators for their work and then adding the statement “Changes were made by _____ (name/s of the person/s) for use by ______ (name of program or school).

  • Ojibwe Video Tutorials

    These eleven video tutorials have been created by The College of St. Scholastica to demonstrate immersion methodology and classroom management in Ojibwemowin. All videos, including the one shown to the right, are narrated in Ojibwemowin. Bilingual scripts for each video are also available by clicking the corresponding Read button and downloading the matching script.

Pull Ahead Readers are sets of thematically linked fiction and nonfiction series that help in building early literacy skills. Simple text patterns support emergent readers as they build their recognition of high-frequency sight words. There are 16 books in Ojibwemowin now available!

Ji-gikinoo’amaageng

Awesiinyensag presents stories around the antics of animals who playfully deal with situations familiar to children in all cultures. These original stories were written in Ojibwemowin by a team of 12 language speakers and illustrated by Wesley Ballinger.

Nishiimeyinaanig

Written by 15 first speakers and a team of linguists, teachers, and Ojibwe language experts, and illustrated by Wesley Ballinger. Conceived and presented only in Ojibwe, the stories reflect a rare authenticity as they transmit cultural values, increase vocabulary, and reinforce identity.

Ji-Nisdotaading

Authored by a team of 11 Ojibwe language speakers and illustrated by Jonathan Thunder, these stories were created to encourage learning Ojibwemowin.

Wiijikiiwending

These characters are learning how to share, developing healthy relationships, and navigating the living culture of the Anishinaabe. These stories were created by first speakers and written down with the help of several scholars and second language learners, and illustrated by Andrea Carlson.
